Logic Springs Technologies Introduces a Task Management System
Designed for Teams and Individuals Alike
Lake Mary, FL-August 21, 2008-IBM Business Partner and RIM Alliance Partner Logic Springs Technologies has announced the release of a task management system aimed at overhauling the current approach to managing everyday tasks and ongoing projects. The solution, called DC Task Management, promises to work for teams every step of the way, from the brainstorming stage through completion and review of the project.
Logic Springs Technologies-a leading provider of groupware whose solutions include group calendaring, time off, and mobile group calendaring via BlackBerry Devices-has recently expanded its scope to include a solution for organizations in need of a team-oriented task management system.
Product Manager David Engasser explains that the uniqueness of the DC Task Management solution is that it is not geared specifically toward managing individuals' personal tasks. It instead provides teams with a user-friendly method to eliminate any confusion or ambiguity that might arise in the life of a project. The four phases of the solution-"Brainstorm," "Plan," "Do", and "Review"-have been designed to accommodate multiple team members working on a project from start to finish, teams in need of a solution that allows for the development of an idea at each stage in its life.
The "Brainstorm" phase has been designed to help users organize the method with which they will carry out the plan by providing the tools to think through the project at hand before beginning work on individual tasks. "I don't know how many times you've been given a task that wasn't very well defined...," Engasser explains, "What we've done is provide you with a tool to define these tasks more clearly, allowing you to move forward with the project."
The tools in the "Brainstorm" phase include the option to import outlines from programs such as MindJet MindMaps, Microsoft Project or Microsoft Word, or to create an outline within DC Task Management itself. Instead of requiring project managers to create an entry for every task in a project, this tool automatically generates each item in your outline as an individual task.
The functionality of DC Task Management extends beyond this initial phase of a project. The "Do" phase solves the problem of prioritizing that troubles today's leading project management systems. "The goal is to put all critical tasks immediately before your eyes." The DC Task Management inbox keeps highly visible the tasks that are truly critical, preventing your view from being cluttered by less relevant items.
In addition, DC Task Management's innovative approach to prioritizing tasks helps further ensure that mission-critical tasks are completed first. The usual priorities of low, medium, and high still exist, but they are augmented with an "importance level"-a tool allowing managers and executives to prioritize tasks that are particularly critical to the organization as a whole.
"Our goal in creating DC Task Management was to avoid making people work for their software," Engasser concludes, adding with a smile, "We wanted to create software that works for the people."

Domino Power Magazine Product Review | 6/21/08
Four Notes Admins Put Department Calendar to the Test
By Joe Dolittle
DominoPower readers are nothing if not vocal. If you don't like something, you let us know -- all 70,000+ of you, pretty much at once. Sometimes I think I have the world's largest peer-review body. And if you don't like a product, you'll also let us know. If you do like something though, we don't hear from you quite as often. Breaking this trend, we've heard a lot from readers about a Notes-based product called Department Calendar, and the feedback has been universally positive. With that background in mind, we decided to undertake a review of the product. But there's a gotcha -- Department Calendar is designed for departments, mid-scale to large groups of people using it at once. It's not exactly the sort of thing that tests easily in a lab environment. We were going to need real users in real departments to test this thing. Fortunately, we were able to talk with four customers who actually have the product in production use. We'll get back to them in a minute...

Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes for 2007
Fix for Incorrect Weekly Repeating Entries created before November 4th, 2007
Lake Mary, FL, November 1, 2007 -
We have recently discovered that Department Calendar versions 7.5/7.6 incorrectly sets the StartDateTime and EndDateTime fields for a specific set of entries within Department Calendar. The following entries apply to this issue: (*Only applies to entries that have been created before 11/4/07 and repeat beyond 11/4/07.)
- Weekly Repeating Direct Entry Meetings
- Weekly Repeating Direct Entry Appointments
- Weekly Repeating Department Events Using Time
As a result of the issue, Department Calendar may incorrectly display meeting times one hour earlier than scheduled.
(e.g., If a Weekly Repeating Direct Entry Meeting is created to start on October 29th at 9:00 AM and repeats on November 5th, and November 12th, Department Calendar will display the meeting start time as 9:00 AM on October 29th, but display the start time as 8:00 AM on November 5th and November 12th.)
We have posted an updated DC DST Utility (lstdcdstutility071101.ntf) on our website that provides a fix to this issue. When administrators load the utility it will automatically determine which entries have been impacted in all Department Calendar databases. The results will be displayed in a view where administrators can run an automated process to correct impacted entries and any related reservations associated with these entries.
Customers who have deployed new Department Calendar 7.5/7.6 databases since the start of the new extended Daylight Savings Time rules may wish to run this utility to determine if any Direct Entries and Department Events in deployed Department Calendar databases are impacted and to run the update process to correct them.

This information is NOT intended to be a complete in depth description of the steps necessary to prepare for the new Daylight Savings Time rules. Logic Springs Technologies strongly recommends that its customers contact the appropriate vendors including IBM, Microsoft, and others to obtain the necessary information for preparing for the new DST rules.

Logic Springs Technologies Launches Department Calendar 7.6
Featuring the Graphical Team Calendar Viewer for Calendaring and Scheduling as well as Other Enterprise Capabilities
Orlando, FL, July 30, 2007 - Logic Springs Technologies today announced the general availability of Department Calendar V7.6, a major new version of its Group Calendar and Time Off Management software . This new release will extend users’ ability to schedule team meetings and events and to display time off requests either from within an IBM Lotus Notes Domino® environment or from a stand alone Java Desktop Application. This enhanced integration with Lotus Notes and the Java Desktop Application Viewer will allow users to schedule and update meeting information from within a graphical viewer and have those updates reflected in both products. This capability will allow organizations to use the viewer to see which calendar users are availabl e in a side-by-side and timeline format more dynamically than with a standard Notes client alone. Department Calendar improves the user experience by providing a task frame, a search tool, and a banded entry window from within a single interface simplifying access to important calendar and task entries. It also has a smooth time line feature, displaying time slots that show when users are busy and when they are available.
In addition to the Java Desktop Application Viewer, Department Calendar 7.6 contains a host of other powerful new features, including Multi-BES support for multiple BlackBerry Enterprise Servers , allowing organizations to configure Department Calendar for each of its BES servers.
"Among the many new useful features clients have been looking forward to in this release is Direct Entry Invitations," said Jeremiah Cline, Programmer Analyst at Logic Springs Technologies. "This will allow meeting coordinators to invite attendees who do not use their personal calendars for scheduling meetings to leverage Department Calendar to quickly see the availability of attendees and create entries directly in the group calendar.”
"We are pleased to deliver Department Calendar 7.6 to the market and believe it will continue the legacy of Department Calendar as the most robust Lotus Notes Domino add-on product on the market for the price," said Efren Yero, President of Logic Springs Technologies. "This new version reflects the input of our valued customers who have requested capabilities such as Graphical Calendaring and Scheduling with Timeline support, Multi-BES Support for the BlackBerry, a more robust Sign In/Out capability, and other features that our customers need to make group calendaring even easier."
Other key enhancements in Department Calendar 7.6 include:
- Web support for DC Global Calendar and Master Time Off, with a host of user interface enhancements designed to create more flexibility while appearing very close to the look and feel of the Notes client interface. This keeps things consistent for users to schedule the meetings, events and time off they need, and to further increase the comprehensive access they have to the entire calendaring and scheduling process.

- The DC Sign In/ Out module delivers many unique enhancements, such as a more secure method for defining which participants have access to other individual’s Sign In/Out profiles, the ability to create your own Sign In/Out actions, and a category synchronization option, which allows you to specify categories that will automatically sign users out for meetings and appointments that take place outside of the office.

- The Color scheme addition provides a sleeker, more streamlined look with forms that look clean and have been restructured for improved ease of use and navigation.
